Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • We work with women entrepreneurs and female-led businesses of all sizes that are mindful, intentional, and conscious of their impact on the planet and humanity.

Our specialties are in health and wellness, fitness, alternative healing, spirituality, sustainability, social impact, and any business that has a positive impact on the world.

  • Just because you don’t fit our normal clientele doesn’t necessarily mean we cannot work together! We’d suggest you first check if we are a good fit, then book a Discovery Call to see if we are a good match!

  • We book projects on a first-come, first-served basis – which sometimes can be booked several months in advance.

Fill out our Project Application form to get started. Keep in mind that we take on limited projects per quarter to ensure the highest quality of work and satisfaction for our clients.

  • Depending on the project or service you’re interested in, a project can take anywhere from 1 week to a few months. We take our work seriously and adhere to structured timelines to ensure we deliver the highest quality work for each project.

Any client partner who does not follow the agreed upon deadlines and timelines may result in a project delay fee.

  • Currently, we do not offer photography services. As website and brand designers, we are not photographers, who are responsible for the look and feel of your brand identity and website design

We truly believe each creative is an expert in their field, and if you need a photographer in your local area, let us know! We may be able to point you in the right direction.

As an alternative, we can provide creative direction, high-level photography guidelines and help curate a stock image portfolio that would match your brand identity and website, at an additional cost. Just let us know during the Discovery Call that this is something you’re interested in.

  • We currently offer copywriting as an additional service, as we collaborate with our trusted and incredible network of copywriting partners. If this is something you’d be interested in, simply let us know in our Discovery Call!

  • If even after the number of revisions as outlined in the proposal terms and conditions you’re not completely resonating with the design, you can choose whether or not to continue to rework at our current hourly rate.

This very, very rarely happens. If the initial proposed design doesn’t feel right, we won’t force you – you are the champion of your field! We’ll take a step back, reassess, and pivot. It’s most likely that we didn’t have all the facts about your brand and vision, and rest assured, we’ll go back to the exploration phase to uncover deeper insights and develop a stronger alignment.

We’re on your side! And we are just as invested as you are in your business and bringing your vision to life.

Payment

  • Depending on the project or service you’re interested in, the prices may vary based on your business needs and deliverables.

The best way to start is to begin with a free Discovery Call to better understand the challenges you’re facing and how we can help you! During this call, we’ll be able to propose the best solution for your business needs and vision.

  • Yes! We understand a brand and website can be a big investment in your business, which is why we offer tiered payment options based on your needs.

  • No. The first installment of the payment acts as a non-refundable deposit. As we use this to guarantee your project in our calendar. We intentionally book brand and website design projects in advance in order to give each client the time and attention they deserve.

This ensures that our clients are serious about moving forward, doing the work, and making the investment in their business and themselves.

  • We accept electronic payments only in the form of bank transfers and credit card (fees apply); For Hong Kong based clients only, we also offer FPS.

We do not accept cash or checks

  • After the contract is signed and the $500 USD non-refundable deposit paid, you will receive your client onboarding kit. This includes information such as the project timeline, brand questionnaire and additional pre-project tasks.

  • Every business is different, and therefore every project timeline may differ. Timelines are crafted uniquely for each client partner, to allow proper time for research, brainstorming, prototyping, refining, and more. Each timeline is as unique as your business’s needs.

Do you need the designs earlier? Let’s chat and see how we can help meet your timeline.

Branding

  • Certainly! Our clients often add additional brand design services into the project brief.

Book in a Discovery Call and we can discuss a customised package for you.

  • Yes. As the branding is custom-tailored to you and your brand, we do not keep the copyrights to your brand design except for the sole purpose of showcasing the project in our portfolios and promoting our services.

Please note that any photos or fonts used in the brand should be licensed by you separately. We are not responsible for the purchasing of any photo or font licenses.

  • No. We may be in charge of the visual design of relevant physical marketing materials (packaging, etc), but we do not offer any physical printing services. We can, however, recommend a few online printing partners that we enjoy working with, depending on your local area.

Website

  • Yes. All our projects run on a strict timeline to ensure every project and client is delivered to the highest standard. Because we may book projects several months in advance, it is expected from our clients to have all final content, copywriting, imagery, video, etc before the project start date.

The most successful projects are well thought out and organized in order for us to work together towards the same mission and clearly defined vision!

  • Think of a sitemap and wireframes like the blueprint designs of a new house. First, you start with a blueprint, then foundation, followed by the structure, and only then you can think about the finer aesthetics on the inside.

A site map is the framework of all the pages within your website. It gives a clear indication of which pages live where. For example, you’d want to have all of your individual “product offerings” to live within the section of “Services”

Wireframes are an architectural draft of what each page looks like, in terms of types of content, interaction, and more. For example, within each Product Offering page, you may want a beautiful image, copywriting content, pricing, and an actionary button for visitors to book the offering.

These are both crucial to the design process to get everyone aligned and guarantee a smooth process once we move into the website design.

  • Currently, we only build websites on the Squarespace platform.

Soon we are expanding our offerings into Shopify and Wordpress. If you’re interested in being a beta client partner for these platforms, let us know in our Project Application form

  • We truly believe that Squarespace is the most versatile and accessible platform for small and medium sized businesses and entrepreneurs. It is responsive, fully functional, flexible, and offers great accessibility for anyone to drive right in. And the best part? No technical experience or skills necessary!

  • A professionally branded email address is a business email that can include your company’s name (ie: hello@arcanastudio.co).

It is not required, but the first year of Google Workspace is already included in your Squarespace Business Plan subscription. It is a small, but powerful, element of your branding that gives your business an official and professional edge!

  • Imagine that your company website is similar to a digital property on the internet. A web host is the service that enables you to post your website online.

Think of it like the “land” or space where your website lives. Squarespace is your website host, as they are the platform that allows your website to live on the internet. You will then need to purchase a Squarespace subscription plan (like purchasing ‘land’) in order to park your website on their platform.

  • No. You are responsible for the cost of the hosting plan, on top of the signature website design investment. When your website is ready to go, we’ll walk you through how to purchase the website and launch it together!

Please note that by working with us, we are able to offer you a **20% discount off of the first year of an annual Squarespace Business Plan subscription.**

**(This discount does NOT apply to website renewals or Monthly subscription plans on Squarespace)

  • A custom domain/URL is how people will find your business online, as it is a unique name to your very own space on the internet. Imagine it as the official company address to your own shop on the internet. You’ll want a name that is relevant to your business and easy to remember - like the company name printed on your physical shop.

You can certainly use the domain name as provided by Squarespace, but this link will look something like: yourcompany.squarespace.com.

Similar to your company branded email address, you’ll want something professionally customized to signify that it’s your business space.

For example, arcanastudio.co is much easier to remember, and more aligned to Arcana Studio, than arcanastudiothedesigncompany.squarespace.com.

  • No. You are responsible for the cost of the custom domain URL, in addition to our Website Design Experience investment. If you do not already own your own custom domain name, you can easily purchase it through your Squarespace subscription or a third-party platform. Don’t worry, we’ll walk you through this process!

If you already own your own custom domain/URL from another third-party provider (i.e. GoDaddy, etc), we can easily transfer or point the domain to Squarespace for no additional cost.

  • Yes! We believe the best collaborations are the ones where you’re feeling enabled and empowered to take your business even further after your launch! That’s why we offer 30-days post launch support via email to all of our clients.

In addition to owning your own website, you’ll also have access to our exclusive Squarespace 101 course, which is a video library of how-to’s on how to update and maintain your website!

  • Yes! If you’d prefer to hand-off updating and maintaining your website to someone else, we’d love to help you grow and evolve. We offer website maintenance after launch at our studio rate.

Please let us know if that is something you’re interested in!

  • Yes. We offer website migration, whether between Squarespace 7.0 to Squarespace 7.1, or from an external website platform (Wordpress, etc) to Squarespace 7.1.

It is important to note that the client is responsible for providing finalized website content, copywriting, photography, graphics, videos, etc before the project start date.
