Business Goals
Ellie and Cruz own Hong Kong's leading verbal branding agency, The Quick Word Company (TQWC). Their work spans across industries, organisations and companies and give voice and articulation to them all. They're able to listen to someone's story or a company's mission, and verbalise it in a way that makes you feel and move!
They are bold, industry vets and a beautiful mix of professional and quirky. Their website had all the right ingredients: a bold brand + fun illustrations and the right components: Homepage + About +Testimonials but it didn't feel like Ellie & Cruz.
It didn't match the force of nature they are in personality (it was a bit blah, to be honest!) but also needed to maintain a strong balance of professionalism. We needed to give it love. They wanted to be able to:
Showcase their personality while being in line with the industry;
Have a digital home that they would be proud to share and send across to clients;
A bold visual theme that would tie everything together and immediately tie back to them;
And a way to more effectively use the illustrations!
What We Did
We wanted the website to give off a sense of professionalism and fun. In order to do so, our first step was actually to round out the brand. TQWC had these amazing illustrations and a large, illustrated logo - and had paired with just white and black with a clean and elegant serif font.
We played around with different fonts and bolder colours - we wanted something that stood out and really popped.
Once we landed on what the core visual brand elements were, the rest was straightforward. We went through the sections and flow and took the illustrations and added different colours to help everything pop!
What We Achieved
After seeing the website draft, this is what TQWC said:

The updated branding and website meant that TQWC now had a stronger visual base to work with, and apply across other client-facing applications like decks and social media.
